Suggestions for transportation, restaurants, attractions, and conference hotels.

If you won’t be joining us by staying at one of the recommended conference hotel, be sure to check the proximity of your hotel to the conference location, as students often tell us that being close made their experience that much better.

Conference hotel

The official conference hotel is the Embassy Suites by Hilton Philadelphia Center City, 1776 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19103. The hotel phone is 215-561-1776.

In March, the average day-time highs are 48-58 degrees and the average evening temperatures range from 29-39 degrees. Meeting rooms may be cool due to air conditioning. Nightlife in Philadelphia may be cool, which echoes March’s weather.

If it would take you more than eight hours to drive to this conference, ASGA recommends that you consider flying. Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is about 10 miles from the official conference hotel and venue, the Embassy Suites by Hilton Philadelphia Center City.

Atlantic City International Airport (ACY) and Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) are additional options for air travel and may be less expensive. If you fly into Atlantic City or Allentown, you will need a rental car. ACY is about 55 miles from the Embassy Suites by Hilton Philadelphia Center City, while ABE is about 65 miles from the hotel.

Taxis can be picked up at Zone 5 on the Commercial Transportation Roadway at Philadelphia International Airport.

Uber may be a cheaper option.

All taxi rates are based per trip, not per person. Most taxis can accommodate up to 3 passengers. In some cases certain vehicle types can accommodate 4 passengers.

There is a $10.00 minimum fare from the Airport to any destination.

Fares are based on the meter, which based upon entry (flag drop) is $2.70 and $2.30 per mile or portion thereof. An additional $1.00 per passenger ($3.00 maximum) after the first passenger will be charged on flat rate trips between the Airport and Center City for passengers over age 12. In addition, there will be charged an additional $1.50 Airport fee.

$28.50 Flat Rate from the Airport to Central Philadelphia Area

It is 10 miles from Philadelphia International Airport to the Embassy Suites by Hilton Philadelphia Center City.

Public Transportation

The Embassy Suites by Hilton Philadelphia Center City is located within walking distance of both Suburban Station and Amtrak’s (1-800-USA-RAIL) 30th Street Station.

You can easily walk to museums, attractions, restaurants, or can take one of Philadelphia’s convenient “Flash” buses for about $1.00 which will take you anywhere in “Center City.”
